09/13/2009 – Dear Friends and Supporters,
We pray that all of you are doing well. Everyone here with us in
Thailand is doing well because of God's grace. The weather here is
extremely hot and humid these days. This year has seen the least amount
of rain in a long time with many farmers having to replant their rice
crops because of lack of water. We thank God that this was not the case
for us as we got sufficient water coming through the irrigation ditches
when we were planting at our various training centers.
By way of
update, we would like you to know that a number of rainy season Bible
Schools are in session across the ministry areas with which we are
networking. All the church planters are hard at work in their
respective villages. We are happy to report that a number of new areas
are opening up to the gospel, with formerly resistant village leaders
requesting that we send them people who can explain God's message to
them. Some of these leaders are village shaman who are ready to give up
their practice of appeasing evil spirits. People are being added to the
church on a regular basis. Just two weeks ago five individuals from two
families were baptized in one of the new villages that we are targeting
along the Thai/Laos border.
Today (Sept 13th), the father of one of the
graduates from the Santisuk Bible School is being baptized into the
Lord. He too was a former witch doctor. We continue to be amazed at
what God is doing across this region. The economic down turn is causing
many to put their trust in God for the first time in their lives. While
we pray for better times, let us also pray that people around the world
will discover God on a personal level.
Love,
Joni, Nangsar and Coworkers
