Dear Friends,

As this newsletter was going to press, we got the following report from Colombia...

"Our plane was on its second literature flight of the day over the Colombian jungle. I was dropping Bibles, solar radios and other Christian books by parachute to those in the guerrilla-controlled zones. Crossing some small towns and a river, I passed over a new area, flying down the main street of a town.

"Some guerrillas under lean-to's or porch roofs, began firing weapons at our plane. I could hear machine guns and automatic rifles. It sounded like twenty weapons. One bullet hit the plane then tumbled through the tail section, making four holes.

"It was easier to keep flying in a straight line over the town in order to reach the edge of the forest. While they kept firing, I tossed a Gospel-laden parachute to them"

Thank God our contact was able to safely reach his home base. Last year, VOM helped purchase the plane he was flying. We provide the literature (including Gospels and books by Richard Wurmbrand) being dropped by parachute. A larger and faster plane is now being acquired.

More than half of Colombia's heavy jungle, swamp and rural areas are controlled by Marxist guerrilla groups like FARC (Armed Revolutionary Forces of Colombia). These groups see the growing church as a threat to their control of the areas. Guerrillas have killed many Christian leaders in attempts to stop growth of the church, but they are fighting a losing battle. Christ always wins.

We are standing with our brothers and sisters in Colombia. Use of "air drops" to distribute Christian material has prove very effective in ministering to Christians in isolated areas as well as to their enemies, the FARC guerrillas. Many guerrillas have come to Christ and some former guerrillas even help pack the parachutes!

Please pray for our co-workers in Colombia who take extreme risks in ministering to those who persecute the Body of Christ.
