Know and Support Your Leaders

As we launch into each new year I’d like to remind you about the importance of praying for our leaders. They give of themselves regularly and freely so that Pomerado Christian Church can follow God’s leading into the future. Our church depends heavily on them. They are expected to live godly lives and to lead with integrity and faithfulness. In turn, they certainly deserve our support and prayers.
I’d like to list most of our leaders who are serving in official positions of leadership. There are many other leaders that are not listed here but who also serve in a variety of ways, such as small group leaders, Sunday school teachers, youth sponsors, worship team members, board members taking a required break after serving two terms, etc. In fact, all of the leaders who are listed here are challenged to lead teams of people including other leaders and workers in their area of ministry. So as you can imagine, the full list leaders goes beyond what you see here!
By the way, I’ve listed these names in alphabetical order within categories. Also, I’ve not made any distinction between paid staff and volunteer leaders. They all work together and they all need our support. The vast majority of them serve without any compensation other than knowing the joy and fruit of serving the Lord.

Board of Elders
These leaders “watch over the flock” as assistant shepherds under Jesus. They are in charge of overseeing the spiritual well-being of our congregation.

These are the people you can talk to for more information about our church’s main purposes and key ministries:

Board of Deacons / Trustees
The New Testament talks about Deacons who take care of the physical needs of the congregation (freeing up the Elders to handle the spiritual needs of the congregation.) Also, according to our by-laws as a corporation in the State of California, we must have five trustees. In 1991 we merged these functions onto a single board. The following hold deacon and trustee positions as noted.

Preschool Board
The Preschool Board provides leadership along side our preschool director to help the entire preschool staff run an excellent preschool program and a wonderful ministry of our church.
