Gifts for Jesus 2011Last year our Christmas gift for Jesus was providing clean drinking water for kids in Uganda. We helped to drill wells in villages so that kids wouldn’t have to spend hours every day carrying water.
Why not give a donation in someone’s name and tell them they are helping wipe out poverty in Uganda?

Visit the Safe Water 4 Bwaya, Uganda website for information on raising donations to help villages in Africa get deep water wells drilled, so they no longer have to drink water from animal watering holes and other contaminated water sources.
Our members, students, and friends enjoyed the fun and experience of carrying full water bottles around in backpacks in a Jug-A-Thon to raise money for the Safe Water for Bwaya project! For the Jug-A-Thon alone, over $3000.00 was raised!!
Event News:
Walkers / Joggers had 1 hour to walk as many laps as possible on their chosen course. Some people walked / jogged the 1/4 mile flat course, where one full bottle of water (16 oz) was added to each individual's backpack. The more adventurous people walked / jogged the 1/2 mile hilly course, where two full bottles of water (32 oz) were added to each individual's backpack (one bottle at each end of course).
There were walkers of every age, from 1 month (Mom pushed in stroller) to 80 yrs young! The weather felt cool at first, but walkers / joggers were happy for the cooler temperatures as the bottles were piled into their backpacks, plastic bags, and strollers.
Congratulations to all the Jug-A-Thon walkers, joggers, and babies who helped us raise over $3000.00!!
A big THANK YOU goes out to all the volunteers who helped make the Jug-A-Thon a huge success!!

Pomerado has committed to the support of several missions throughout the world, including several formed by members of our own church.
We have sponsored several trips to Tijuana, Mexico to bring much needed supplies from clothes and shoes, to building bunk beds for children at the Tijuana Christian Mission. Several members have also flown to Trujillo, Peru to help build walls and share God's Word with this farming community. As a congregation, we raised MOOla (money) to help this same Peruvian community co-op purchase cows to build their milking herd, which in turn helped the farmers earn an income from the milk sold to the community.
Pomerado has supported the Tijuana Christian Mission, City of Refuge for many years, both through financial support, and materials and labor contributions.

Daily Scripture Verse“[Psalm 18] For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” - Psalm 18:1-2
