Project New Hope International - Trujillo, Peru

Rendezvous in Peru - June 2010

This year's team members were Amber Schnaath, Steve Shrock, Daniel Riley, and Pastor Evan. Our team was part of the "Rendezvous in Peru" with other big sister churches from the US, where they pitched in together to do various ministry projects.

For more information about the "Rendezvous in Peru" go to the Project Hope website.

Also, please be praying about being one of our team members traveling to Peru in 2011. For more info about that trip, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it of the Missions Team.

In 2008, our church members put their hearts, minds, and donations into the C-Note Challenge, where we raised money to help the Trujillo people increase their herd of cattle.

Project New Hope is under the auspices of Team Expansion. We began sending financial support each month as part of our ongoing commitment, and sent a team of 8 people to Trujillo (from PCC, plus others from El Centro) for 2 weeks in August 2006, with Tom Chamberlain as their Field Team Leader for the Latin World.

John and Carla Hendee are the non-resident missionaries. John is the Project Director.
Mike and Danell Buktas are Project New Hope's U.S. missionaries in Peru.

Mission

Our mission is to launch and provide financing for a six-year urban project in the city of Trujillo, Peru. We want to establish ONE city-wide indigenous church by focusing on up to 9 barrios or villas.

  • Making disciples for Christ. That is the main focus.
  • Starting Church planting movements. “Hasta los pueblos”
  • Partnering with U.S. congregations to launch new churches.
  • In Peru, partner with Latin missionary families to reach, train and equip nationals to carry out the work.
  • Working as one team in the selected city, we will build Centers - not “church buildings” - create ONE CHURCH IN 10 TO 100 LOCATIONS. As part of our plan to impact the city, we plan on having:

  • - city wide sports leagues,
    - volunteer firemen and first aid teams in the poor areas,
    - a city-wide radio ministry,
    - city-wide social programs,
    - city-wide cultural events,
    - culturally adapted facilities,
    - city-wide Kids' Club, Men's Club, Women's Club,
  • Reach university students and professionals in the city working as Mentors
  • Involve U.S. professionals in missions as Servant Specialists
  • Create small businesses to help the work be financially independent
  • Seek to partner with local businesses and professionals and get them involved in Project New Hope and even make contributions to carry it out.
  • We will seek to meet people's needs as we seek to reach them for Christ. We will seek to provide & serve the entire city ministry:

  • - women's refuge,
    - rehab center,
    - programs for delinquent boys',
    - volunteer firemen and paramedic programs,
    - ministry to those working in the city dump,
    - job training program,
    - Homes of Hope program,
    - We will work with Hope for Kids, International: orphans, hospital for children, visiting Doctors and Dentists.

Bible Verse

Daily Scripture Verse

“[Psalm 18] For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
- Psalm 18:1-2
