Mashoko/Hippo Valley Christian Mission - Chiredzi, Zimbabwe

The Mashoko/Hippo Valley Christian Mission was formed in September 1956, when John and  Marjorie Pemberton set foot on Zimbabwe soil with their three children Sherman, Pamela and John Mark. Neither Bob, the youngest, nor the world wide web were a glimmer on the horizon.

September 2006 marked 50 years the Pembertons and many others have been making a difference in that country.  For 30 years, John Mark Pemberton and his wife, Leanna, were supported by Pomerado Christian Church as Missionaries in this work.  Unfortunately, John Mark passed away in November 2005.  Leanna has continued the work since his passing.

We are very pleased that Leanna Pemberton has visited us on October 3, 2010. She updated us on the continuing work at Mashoko/Hippo Valley Christian Mission, with the work at the orphanages, and the overall mission in Zimbabwe.

Mashoko/Hippo Valley Christian Mission exists because Jesus said: Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:19,20)

Bible Verse

Daily Scripture Verse

“[Psalm 18] For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
- Psalm 18:1-2
